READ

Habakkuk 2:2-3

2Then the Lord answered me and said, "Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run. 3"For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.

DISCUSS & REFLECT

This week in church we talked about the importance of having vision. We all need vision not just as individuals but as the body of christ. So often when we think about vision we picture a destination or a goal. Although having a set destination and having goals are crucial in the pursuit of glorifying God, vision is for so much more than just keeping us on track heading in the right direction. So often in life we run into obstacles and instead of taking these problems head on we do our best to avoid them. Instead of allowing these trials God puts in our lives to strengthen us by fire we do everything we can to stay safe and avoid them. This is where vision is critical to becoming the warriors God desires us to be. Vision gives our pain a purpose plain and simple. It allows us to see these trials we face for what they are, opportunities to strengthen ourselves for eternity. Vision also gives us everything we need to persevere when the going gets tough. It’s easy to start a new ministry or project and it's easy to keep it going for the first few months or years when its exciting and everyone wants to be involved, but what happens when that initial excitement fades or when other people stop showing up? How do you keep moving forward? It’s time we allow God's vision, no matter how out of reach it may seem at this moment, to fuel us in a new way and to allow it to help drive us through our trials to not only grow as a church but as individuals in Christ Jesus!

Questions:

1. Why is vision not only good but necessary?

2. What is the vision you have for your relationship with Jesus?

3. What is one thing you could do today to help move us forward towards the vision we have for our church?

LIVE IT OUT

This week make a list of 5 things you could do to take your involvement with our church to the next level. Maybe this is an idea for a new ministry or a way you can get involved with something we already have happening at Lighthouse! After you make that list pick one of those things and make the decision to start doing it now! We need you and your gifts that God has given you to Glorify the name of Jesus in a new and exciting way!
